Children have a very special place here at Limavady Baptist. Our Sunday school focuses on teaching children biblical foundations through engaging and active learning strategies, which are appropriate for their stage of development. Each Sunday, we strive to to not only teach the children to “know about” Jesus, but to “know” Jesus personally as Lord and Saviour, and to make God's Word come alive to the kids.
Sunday School is now back to normal. If you'd like your children to attend, please get in touch or come along to church on Sunday at 3:30pm.
Throughout Jesus’ ministry children were central. This was very much against the culture of the time where children, among others, were at the bottom of the social ladder. Constantly Jesus valued those who society had demoted, not just by making them equal but holding them as something to aspire to. He did not just say, “treat children equally,” He actually said, “you should be like these little ones!”
And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
Mark 10:13–16
Therefore, it's our aim that our Sunday School should not, therefore, be a baby–sitting service so that the adults can do the business or even that we should be teaching children how to “grow up” into followers of Jesus. It's our belief that children have a full and active part to play in the kingdom of God, now, as children.
Sunday School is held each Sunday throughout the school terms, having a break during school holidays. Our Bible–based lessons cater for primary school aged children. We meet as one large group in the main church hall upstairs. To collaborate our lessons the leaders and children partake in a quiz time, memory verses from the Bible, and singing as part of our Sunday School program.
Fizzy drinks and scrumdiddlyumptious goodies are provided for all.
Who, where, and when?
But Jesus said, Let the little children alone, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
